As a composer Virginia has written and arranged for choirs; orchestras and instrumental ensembles of all types.

Her music has been performed by the contemporary classical ensemble Lontano, as well as by John Dankworth and the vocal ensemble ‘Voice’ among other performers.

Her choir arrangements have graced the stage of The Stables’ in Wavendon alongside Jazz luminaries: Ian Shaw, Jacquie Dankworth and Cleo Laine as well as at The Wellcome Foundation as part of ‘The Elements event’.

I must say that the WAVE choir and the male choir (3VMVC) are so fortunate to to have such a dedicated, experienced, pleasurable and uplifting MD as Virginia. What would we do with out her?

~BACKGROUND

Virginia studied piano and composition at The London College of Music, gaining an LLCM in 1985, also winning several composition prizes.

She won The Lillian Hunt prize for composition in 1989 awarding her further study with Herbert Brün at The University of Illinois.

She subsequently gained an MA in composition at Michigan State University in Michigan USA, in 1994.

Her composition teachers have included: Sir Harrison Birtwistle; Brian Elias; Gerard McBurney; Giles Swayne and Susan Bradshaw.
