09 Oct Publishing my Compositions and Choral Arrangements
Over the last few years, I have been going through my top shelf and publishing my compositions and choral arrangements onto SheetMusicPlus and SHEETMUSICDIRECT. In addition, my arrangements and compositions are featured on this site: MUSESCORE. Also, you can purchase my pieces HERE (Coming soon).
My most recent additions are: Mercury 2-part song for choir and Mercury – Song for piano and voice; Snack Maniac (jazz piano); Complexity; Boy Blue; and Rich Dark. These are all originals,
Mercury was commissioned by The Wellcome Trust in 2011, it was for their event Elements.
‘Snack Maniac’ is a jazz piano piece using the rhythm from the words ‘Snack Maniac’, it features guidance for improvisation so would be great for jazz pianists just starting out.
‘Complexity’ is a soulful, jazzy, pentatonic (mostly) voice and piano piece with a repeating 11 bar funky bass line.
As its name suggests, ‘Boy Blue’ is an extended arrangement of the nursery rhyme ‘Little Boy Blue’, for voice and piano. It feature’s an amusing ‘Wake up, don’t go back to sleep’ riff at the end of the song.
Both ‘Complexity’ and ‘Boy Blue’ would work well as vocal solos in a jazz trio setting, but could also, feature in a contemporary classical setting with voice and piano if the singer wanted to add a lighter note to end a programme.
‘Rich Dark’ for voice and piano, was written for a trip I did to Spain for a performance, it therefore features a Spanish tinged piano instrumental. It is about how darkness can be a rich refuge when dealing with troubling times. In addition, it speaks of both the loneliness experienced during difficult times as well as how not to take the blame for complex family difficulties when they are not your fault.
In addition, my works are featured on MUSESCORE, and if you view them, I get commission, so do have a look!
